Garden Grove, CA. 1 Person Killed in Fatal Crash on 22 Freeway

Garden Grove, CA. (June 30, 2018) – The California Highway Patrol reported a traffic accident early Saturday morning that resulted in the death of at least one person. The accident reportedly occurred at approximately 1:06 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the 22 Freeway, west of Springdale Street in Garden Grove.

California Highway Patrol officials who responded to the accident arrived to find a vehicle facing the wrong way and subsequently blocking several lanes of the freeway. At least one death was reported as a result of the crash, although no other details concerning the events that led to the accident were made available.

Authorities dispatched a member of the coroner’s office to the scene in order to retrieve the victims’ remains. An air ambulance was reportedly requested to the scene, and there were apparently two passengers who were in the backseat of the vehicle at the time of the accident, but they were missing. All westbound lanes of the freeway were closed down at around 3:30 a.m. and reopened by approximately 7:17 a.m. Authorities are currently conducting an in-depth investigation into the cause of the crash in order to determine liability.
