Hansford, CA – Drunk Driver Causes Wrong-Way Crash on Highway 198
Hansford, CA (March 22, 2019) – A drunk driver going the wrong way on Highway 198 caused a crash that injured himself and two others.
The crash occurred around 3:30 a.m. on the stretch of highway east of Houston Avenue. 38-year-old Salvador Almanza veered his Honda Civic from the westbound lanes into the eastbound lanes and hit another Honda Civic head-on.
The two people who were in the eastbound Civic were taken to Kaweah Delta Hospital along with Almanza. All three suffered moderate injuries.
The CHP reported that Almanza was under the influence of either drugs or alcohol during the time of the crash. He was arrested by law enforcement.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
