Common Ways To Prevent Injuries In Auto Accidents In California
There are huge amounts of car accidents every year. Because they happen so often, it’s likely that you may be involved in one at some point. Even a low speed and low impact car crash can lead to serious injury. Follow these tips to prepare yourself before a car crash:
Wearing a seat belt can hugely reduce the risk of serious injury in a car crash. But, if you are wearing it incorrectly, it’s possible the belt won’t be as effective.
Check your seat belt to ensure it is fastened correctly and tug to make sure that it is in place. The lap portion of the seat belt should sit low as possible across your hips. The shoulder belt should be positioned across the middle of your chest and then over your shoulder.
Adjust your seat so it is as far away from the airbags as is attainable. Of course, make sure you are able to reach the pedals and steering wheel.
Next, move the positioning of the back of the seat. Sit as far back as possible so your back is flat.
Every passenger in the vehicle should also adjust their headrest. The back of your head should be in contact with the center of the headrest when you sit back.
Sit up straight with your feet flat on the floor whenever you’re inside the car.
Drivers should also adjust the steering wheel before turning on the vehicle and driving.
Perhaps the easiest thing to do to avoid an accident is to pay attention to the road. Your chances of being in an accident when distracted are exponentially higher than if you are focused.
