Hillsborough, CA – 86-year-old Inez Barranti of Millbrae Killed in Traffic Collision

Hillsborough, CA (March 16, 2019) – The 86-year-old woman who passed away due to a collision on March 13, has been identified as Inez Barranti of Millbrae.

The two-vehicle collision happened on Wednesday at about 3:40 p.m. near the Crystal Springs Golf Course.

The accident was caused when a 16-year-old driver in a 2016 Volkswagen Golf turned left onto Golf Course Drive from the ramp onto northbound Interstate 280. She then hit the right door of a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe which was traveling east. The Hyundai turned over and landed on the left side.

Emergency responders were called to the scene to render aid the injured drivers. The 63-year-old Millbrae man that was behind the wheel in the Hyundai and an 89-year-old male passenger were both injured and taken to Stanford Health Care. Barranti was taken to the hospital and was then pronounced dead.

The 16-year-old girl from Redwood City that was driving the Volkswagen and her passenger, a 15-year-old Belmont girl, was uninjured.

Drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the collision.
