- Roadway problems account for only 2 percent of motorcycle accidents.
- In 75 percent of the cases where there was more than one vehicle, the driver of the car violated the motorcyclist’s right-of-way.
- Most crashes are caused by other drivers who fail to see motorcyclists on the road.
- Motorcycle collisions are often the result of a car making a left turn in front of an oncoming motorcycle.
- These accidents are most likely to occur in an intersection.
- Accidents that are caused by an uneven road can be fatal.
- Weather is not typically a factor, however, alcohol is – in nearly 50 percent of fatal motorcycle crashes.
