Simi Valley Pedestrian Accident
Pedestrians can experience some of the highest dangers on the road. They have no protection, as the people in a car do, and they don’t wear a helmet as a motorcycle driver or bicyclist does. In 2017, there were 5,977 pedestrian deaths reported.
Pedestrians who are hit by passenger automobiles, motorcycles, or trucks can make a case against the at-fault driver. Usually, the pedestrian has the right-of-way. However, the pedestrian must prove the driver’s negligence, and all vehicle drivers must pay attention to avoid harming a pedestrian on the road. This helps avoid the risk of injuring someone.
At-fault vehicle drivers may cause an incident like this for various reasons. They may be distracted, drunk, tired, or simply not paying attention. If a driver’s negligence causes a pedestrian injury, he or she may be found at-fault. If an at-fault driver kills a pedestrian, their family or dependents can sue for wrongful death. An experienced attorney can walk you through the process in this most difficult of times.
Damages that can be recovered after a wrongful death include hospital bills, funeral costs, various expenses, loss of income from work, and pain and suffering. The deceased relationship with the family member seeking damages can figure into the amount recovered.
If you lose a family member due to a pedestrian accident, you need a law firm on your side that will help you overcome the legal pitfalls of this terrible situation and help you garner claims with insurance companies.
