Indio, CA. Victim of Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Avenue 44 Identified as Jose Francisco Pinela

Indio, CA. (July 3, 2018) – The Riverside County Coroner has confirmed the identity of the man who was sadly killed in a pedestrian accident Sunday morning. 65-year-old Jose Francisco Pinela is the man who was struck by a vehicle on Avenue 44, west of Golf Center at approximately 3:42 a.m. Pinela, unfortunately, died from the injuries he suffered in this accident.

According to the Indio Police Department, Pinela was attempting to cross Avenue 44 when he was tragically struck by a vehicle. Paramedics arrived on the scene quickly to help the injured pedestrian. Pinela was immediately transported to Desert Hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. Sadly, he passed away from those injuries just a short time after arriving at the hospital.

The driver of the vehicle reportedly told the police that they did not see Pinela crossing the avenue. Currently, a detailed investigation is being conducted in order to determine whether or not the driver will face criminal charges, or who may have been at fault for the accident.
