Johnson Valley, CA – Anthony Wilson & Alexander Merz Injured In Head-On Collision Near Olivine Rd.

Johnson Valley, CA (May 19, 2019) – A head-on crash occurred on Thursday afternoon that seriously injured two men.

California Highway Patrol responded to the scene of this injury accident.  According to CHP officers, the crash occurred about 4:40 p.m. near Olivine Rd.

Anthony Wilson, 27, of Twentynine Palms, was traveling southbound on Old Woman Springs Rd. when he moved his 2019 Ford F-150 pick-up truck into the northbound lane to pass traffic. Traveling northbound on Old Woman Springs Rd. was Alexander Merz, 50, of Texas, who was driving his 2018 Nissan Versa. The two vehicles collided head-on near Olivine Rd.

Emergency responders were called to the scene to render aid the injured drivers. Wilson was able to get out of his truck, but firefighters from Yucca Valley and Yucca Mesa needed to use the Jaws of Life to extricate Merz from his car. Alexander Merz was airlifted to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs and Anthony Wilson was transported by ambulance to Desert Regional.
