Kings Canyon National Park, CA – Pedestrian Struck on Highway 180

Kings Canyon National Park, CA (August 18, 2018) – A pedestrian was injured after being struck by a vehicle on Friday in Kings Canyon National Park.  The collision took place 8:14 am on Highway 180.  The events leading up to the accident were not released and no cause for the crash is known at this time.

When officers arrived on scene, an injured pedestrian was located lying in the roadway.   The vehicle that hit the pedestrian stopped at the scene and was pulled over on the right shoulder of the road.  Although the pedestrian clearly suffered injuries, the extent and severity of the injuries is unknown at this time.  The pedestrian has not been identified by authorities.

Police have not stated whether they intend to charge the driver for their role in this pedestrian crash. An investigation into this accident remains ongoing.
