Who Is Liable In A Skateboarding Accident?
Skaters can also be commuters and they are a common sight on the streets. But what happens when skateboarders are struck by a car? Who can be sued as a result of a skateboard crash?
Skateboarders and rollerbladers, similarly to pedestrians, bicyclists, or vehicles, must adhere to sidewalk and road laws. The person who is at fault for a collision involving a skateboarder or rollerblader is the person who was in violation of the law.
If you believe that you were not at fault, you will have to prove the negligence of the other party. The best way is with evidence – witnesses, police reports, or video – showing that the other person was careless and made a mistake, causing the crash. In the majority of cases, the skater has the right of way.
If you are a skateboarder or rollerblader who has been involved in an accident, you should contact a personal injury attorney. A personal injury attorney can help you understand what your next step should be in your case.
