Lake Elsinore, CA – Fatal Multi-Vehicle Accident Ortega Highway
Lake Elsinore, CA – (November 19, 2018) – One person was killed and another injured in a two-vehicle collision that occurred early Monday morning in Lake Elsinore. The crash occurred around 4 am on Ortega Highway (SR 74) near the Candy Store.
According to the California Highway Patrol, two unidentified vehicles traveling westbound on Ortega Highway violently collided into one another. The force of the impact caused the occupants of both vehicles to be trapped inside. Responding firefighters had to extricate an unspecified number of people from the wreckage. Paramedics performed CPR on one of the injured victims in an attempt to revive them, but despite rescue efforts, the victim died at the scene of the accident. An unknown number of patients were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. The identities of the people involved in the accident were not immediately released.
The CHP is conducting an investigation into the incident.
