Police Investigating Hit-and-Run Bicycle Accident
Lake Elsinore, CA (December 4, 2018) On the afternoon of December 4th, a hit-and-run bicycle accident took place at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Blackwell Boulevard. Officials reported that a driver struck a bicyclist at 12:44 p.m., and then proceeded to drive off and struck another vehicle a block away. An eye witness named Greg Walden spoke with the police and explained what happened. When emergency crews arrived at the scene they found at least one person injured, but did not clarify if was the bicyclist or the other driver. According to Walden, a driver in a black sedan was responsible for both the two collisions. The police are currently investigating the scene and searching for the suspect.
We hope the injured victim recovers quickly from their injuries as we know how severe personal injuries can be. It’s unfortunate that the driver left the injured victim to suffer without calling for help. Thankfully, help arrived on time as we able to assist the person.
Vehicle Accidents in California
Every year, the number of bicycle accidents increases in the United States. Drivers often fail to check their blind spots, or they’ll make turns directly in front of oncoming bicyclists. Sometimes drivers will even side swipe bicyclists or open doors in front of them. Other times drivers are under the influence, on their cell phones, or asleep at the wheel. California states that bicyclists are considered vehicles, which means drivers should show them the same respect on the road as they do other vehicles.
The most common injuries that bicyclists suffer are fractured bones, head injuries, spinal cord injuries, and internal injuries. It’s very important that bicyclists suffering from personal injuries collect their medical reports and any other evidence regarding the accident so that they can receive financial reimbursement, especially if the accident was caused by a negligent driver.
Hit-and-Run accidents happen when drivers are driving a stolen vehicle, using an expired license, or driving an unregistered vehicle. Other times drivers might have a warrant out for their arrest. Once the police capture the driver responsible for these two collisions, the injured victim can file a personal injury lawsuit.
