Lancaster, CA – One Killed in Deadly Bicycle Accident on Avenue K nearby Stanridge Avenue

Lancaster, CA (August 25, 2018) – A male bicyclist was tragically struck and killed by a motor vehicle Saturday morning on Avenue K in Lancaster, according to a report filed by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The fatal collision that was reported to have transpired on Avenue K, just east of Stanridge Avenue took place at approximately 6:00 a.m.

According to authorities, the bicyclist was rear-ended by a motorist who had veered into the bike lane. The man on the bicycle had been riding in the designated bicycle lane along Avenue K when the westbound vehicle struck him. The impact of the collision caused the rider to be ejected from his bicycle after the accident.

Emergency responders arrived on the scene immediately in order to assist the injured rider. The victim was promptly transported to a local hospital for treatment, but he, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries a short time later. Officials from the sheriff’s department have stated that they have reason to believe alcohol and/or drugs may have been factors in the accident, although that cannot be confirmed at this time.
