Large Diffuse B-Cell Lymphoma Linked to Monsanto’s Roundup

Roundup is a weed killer that was developed and manufactured by Monsanto. It is used by individuals in their private gardens and in large agricultural and landscaping situations as well. .Research has clearly demonstrated an active link between, glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup weed killer to the development and growth of non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Additionally, some reports also indicate this dangerous chemical ingredient could lead to the development of numerous other types of cancers. Roundup has been on the market for nearly five decades and is used for killing off weeds in yards, gardens, fields, and crops. It is also used by commercial nurseries, parks, and golf courses. Overall, the United States alone accounts for the usage of around 250 million pounds of Roundup herbicide each year. We have already spent months hearing about glyphosate’s link to non-Hodgkins lymphoma, but it is capable of causing many more ailments from its regular use.

Large Diffuse B-cell Lymphoma (LDBCL)

Large Diffuse B-cell Lymphoma cancer cells look excessively large underneath a microscope. LDBCL starts in B-lymphocytes (B-cells). It is the most common subtype of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, accounting for 30-40% of all cases.

Early Warning Signs of Lymphoma

Lymph nodes all over the body contain lymphocytes. The most common sign of DLBCL is a painless lump in the neck, armpit, or groin that grows rapidly over the course of just a couple of weeks. About 40% of DLBCL cases develop in other parts of the body like the eyes, stomach, intestines, brain, nasal sinuses, skin,  liver, testicles, and lungs.

Symptoms of DLBCL

Those who are suffering from DLBCL may experience symptoms, such as:

  • Painless lumps
  • Shortness of breath/difficulty breathing
  • Feeling nauseated
  • Enlarged lymph nodes
  • Persistent coughing
  • Night Sweats
  • Unexplainable fevers
  • Itching with no apparent cause (rash, bug bites, etc.)
  • Loss of appetite
  • Accidental weight loss’
  • Any sort of pressure or pain in the stomach and/or chest
  • Extreme fatigue

Testing and Treatments

The best way to diagnose if someone has DLBCL is with a biopsy (tissue sample) from an enlarged lymph node. The biopsy is examined under a microscope by a pathologist who looks for cancer cells. Blood tests and CT scans help diagnose which of the four stages the DLBCL is currently in and find out where in your body it is growing the fastest. This is an aggressive form of cancer that grows and spreads quickly. It requires immediate treatment with chemotherapy and sometimes radiation therapy. Fortunately, 75% of patients are disease-free after treatment and about 50% of patients are cured.
