Lemon Grove, CA – Teen Seriously Injured After Bicycle and Vehicle Crash at Massachusetts Avenue and Broadway
Lemon Grove, CA. (July 10, 2018) – Local police reported a 19-year-old man who is currently in critical condition after being struck by an SUV while riding his bicycle Monday night in Lemon Grove. The injurious collision occurred at approximately 10:21 p.m. in the vicinity of the Lemon Grove Square Shopping Center.
The accident happened at the corner of Massachusetts Avenue and Broadway, according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. A 60-year-old woman was reportedly driving a black Toyota SUV east on Broadway when she allegedly made a right turn from Broadway onto Massachusetts Avenue, southbound. The police report stated that the bicyclist proceeded to collide with the front-left side of the SUV.
The driver of the SUV stopped and exited the vehicle in order to assist the victim. The woman apparently kept the injured bicyclist safe from being hit by other drivers by directing traffic away from the victim. Paramedics arrived on the scene a short time later and immediately transported the injured bicyclist to a nearby hospital to be treated for a serious head injury.
The driver of the SUV was reportedly not arrested for her involvement in the collision. An investigation into this crash is presently being conducted by police.
