Long Beach, CA – One Person Injured in Crash Involving Five Vehicles on I-405
Long Beach, CA (May 22, 2019) On the morning of May 22nd, a major car accident happened on the Interstate 405 Freeway at approximately 6:07 a.m. A black Volkswagen Passat, a GMC work truck, and a gray sedan initially collided on the highway for unknown reasons. Shortly after, a black Kia Sportage, a gray Ford pickup truck, and a white BMW collided as well. Two other vehicles also crashed along with the five cars, but those two motorists fled the scene.
When emergency crews arrived, they found at least one person injured and immediately took them to the closest hospital for treatment. Crews had to remove all five cars off of the highway. The Volkswagen suffered major front-end damaged and the airbags released upon impact.
Authorities are currently investigating to determine what led up to the five vehicles colliding.
