Long Beach, CA- 91-year-old Man Dead and 5 Children Injured in Crash on Long Beach Blvd

Long Beach, CA (June 28, 2019)- Local police reported a fatal accident on Long Beach Boulevard at approximately 10:10 am Thursday.

According to reports, the crash took place when a 2015 Kia Rio failed to yield to traffic when they drove out of a driveway south of 44th Street onto Long Beach Boulevard.

The Kia reportedly hit a 2010 Dodge Challenger in the north No. 2 lane.

91-year-old Los Alamitos man Howard Schaack, a passenger in the Rio, died soon after being taken to a local hospital by emergency medical personnel. The driver of the Kia, a 90-year-old Los Alamitos resident, was transporting a man, woman, and five children in the Challenger. All seven sustained injuries in the crash.

The identifications of those injured have not been released to the public.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
