Los Angeles, CA- Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Soledad Canyon Rd
Los Angeles, CA (May 14, 2019)- The Los Angeles County Coroner identified a man who died in an accident on Saturday as 51-year-old Santa Clarita resident Larry Doran.
Doran was killed when his 2007 Yamaha motorcycle was struck as he rode southbound on Soledad Canyon Road. A 2000 Chevrolet driven by 44-year-old Erik Wyler drove out of a residential driveway at approximately 11:45 am, colliding with the motorcycle.
According to officials, Doran was unable to avoid the Chevrolet and collided with the vehicle’s left rear. This caused Doran to be ejected from his motorcycle.
Doran was taken to Mayo Newhall Hospital for treatment of major injuries. However, he soon passed away after arriving at the hospital.
Wyler was not injured in the accident.
No further information is available at this time. An investigation into the crash is underway.
We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of Larry Doran. Our thoughts are with them.
When Cars and Motorcycles Crash in California
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that 5,172 people died in motorcycle accidents in 2017 in the United States. Considering that California has one of the highest motorcycle ownership rates in the U.S., this statistic should be sobering for every motorist in California.
Motorcyclists are vulnerable as soon as they get on the road. A motorcycle is lighter and smaller than any other road vehicle. It lacks the physical protection of a metal body. In order to keep motorcyclists safe, everyone on the road must practice safe driving methods.
If you or a loved one has been injured or died in a motorcycle accident, you may be eligible for compensation to cover medical or funeral bills, lost wages, and other costs.
