Los Angeles, CA- Inglewood Mayor Involved in Crash on Exposition Blvd & Pardee Wy

Los Angeles, CA (May 1, 2019)- A multi-vehicle accident involving a motorcycle, an SUV carrying the mayor of Inglewood, and another vehicle resulted in a Los Angeles police sergeant sustaining injuries on Tuesday.

The crash happened at approximately 8:45 am at Exposition Boulevard and Pardee Way in the area of USC. Inglewood Mayor James Butts Jr. was in a black SUV that was hit by another car as the SUV started to turn at a red light.

The force of the crash caused the SUV to spin into a standing motorcycle near a water fountain, where it hit a Los Angeles police sergeant.

The Los Angeles Police Department reported at least one vehicle involved in the crash was an Inglewood city vehicle. Whether or not Mayor Butts was driving the black SUV is unknown.

According to witnesses, the injuries sustained by the sergeant seemed serious following the crash. He was eventually diagnosed with broken bones and is in stable condition.

No other injuries were reported in the crash.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
