Los Angeles, CA – Maria Macias Injured in Car Accident on Laurel Canyon Boulevard

Los Angeles, CA (February 2, 2019) – Police reported an update that the woman injured in a car accident on Laurel Canyon Boulevard on Thursday was identified as Maria Macias.

Authorities said that the accident took place following a pursuit. The pursuit started when Los Angeles police noticed a vehicle that might have been stolen. They said that the female driver was driving recklessly and officers recognized the male passenger, who was a known gang member.

The driver sideswiped two vehicles and slammed into a fence, the vehicle then overturning.

Fire crews extricated two suspects from the vehicle. Macias had been driving one of the vehicles that was struck by the suspect. She was taken to the hospital with a variety of injuries but her young son in the backseat was not injured.

The two suspects have sustained charges following the accident.
