Los Angeles, CA – Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Hit-and-Run Driver on 84th Place and Central Avenue
Los Angeles, CA (August 2, 2018) – According to the Los Angeles Police Department, one person was tragically killed early Thursday morning after being struck by a vehicle in the vicinity of the intersection at 84th Place and Central Avenue. The police were called to the scene where the victim was reportedly dragged by the vehicle for about three blocks at approximately 1:00 a.m.
Reports stated that the police were notified of the incident after a bystander found the victims’ body lying in the road in the Florence neighborhood of South Los Angeles. Statements indicated that the police were unable to identify the victims’ gender due to the severity of the injuries that were sustained in the accident. Paramedics were immediately on the scene where the victim was pronounced dead upon their arrival.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the victim did not stop after the collision but fled the scene instead. Investigators have reason to believe that the victim was struck by a very large truck whose driver may not have realized they hit someone. At this time, it appears as though the victim was struck at 81st Street before being dragged to the location where the victims’ body was discovered. The events that led to this accident are unknown, and the identity of the victim was not available. The deadly crash is currently under investigation.
