Los Angeles, CA – Two Patrol Officers Injured after Multi-Vehicle Collision on Gage Avenue near Main Street and Broadway
Los Angeles, CA (August 6, 2018) – Local authorities reported that two patrol officers sustained injuries as the result of a multi-vehicle collision that took place along Gage Avenue, in the vicinity of Main Street and Broadway. The incident occurred at approximately 1:00 AM in the early morning hours on Sunday, August 5, 2018. At this time, no detailed information concerning the identities of the two officers or the additional parties involved in the crash has been revealed.
Based on initial reports, the officers had been conducting a routine traffic stop along Gage and had stopped their vehicle. At some point, a second oncoming vehicle sped down the road and slammed into the rear end of the police car, which ultimately slammed into an empty car the two officers had been inspecting.
Medical personnel confirmed the officers sustained injuries but did not require hospitalization.
Later, authorities arrested the unidentified driver of the vehicle that slammed into the patrol car for possibly driving under the influence of alcohol. Officials did not specify if this individual sustained injuries, as well.
Presently, the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
