Los Angeles, CA – Woman Hit and Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Wilshire Boulevard
Los Angeles, CA (February 26, 2019) – On the morning of February 26th, a fatal pedestrian accident happened at the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Rossmore Avenue around 12:20 a.m. According to the reports, a Hispanic woman in her 50s was waiting for a Metro bus near a bus stop in the Mid-Wilshire District right before the crash.
Witnesses reported that the woman was sitting at a bus bench and then ran out into the eastbound lanes to get the attention of the bus driver so she could get on the bus. Unfortunately, the bus driver claims once he saw the woman in the street, it was already too late to avoid hitting her.
When the paramedics arrived, they found the woman dead at the scene. The aforementioned intersection was closed while authorities cleared the area. The police are conducting a thorough investigation of this accident to determine who will be held liable.
We are very sorry that a woman lost her life in this tragic accident, and we hope her family remains strong as they grieve over her lost life.
Pedestrian Accidents in California
Unfortunately, thousands of pedestrians are killed every year by vehicles due to driver’s inattentiveness. California has specific laws that protect pedestrians, one of which requires drivers to yield or come to a complete stop if they see a pedestrian, whether the pedestrian is within or outside of a crosswalk. Unfortunately, there are times when pedestrians put themselves in harm’s way by not following traffic signs and crossing the street while cars are approaching. However, for those who have lost loved ones in pedestrian accidents, a wrongful death lawsuit could be filed, depending on the facts of the case.
At Brady Law Group, our goal is to help families who have lost loved ones in pedestrian accidents recover finances to assist them with funeral costs, medical bills, and more.
