Los Banos, CA- Deadly Wrong-Way Crash on Hwy 152 Near Patton Rd

Los Banos, CA (June 25, 2019)- The California Highway Patrol reported a crash on Monday at approximately 1:56 pm on Highway 152 near Patton Road that left one woman dead and second injured.

According to the CHP, the crash occurred when a 1997 Mercury Cougar heading east in the westbound lanes was approached by 2014 Honda Accord moving in the westbound lane at approximately 72 miles per hour.

After shifting to the left, the Honda crashed with the Mercury. This caused the Mercury to crash into a westbound 2014 Volvo tractor-trailer. The force of this crash damaged the Mercury to the point that it broke into two and ejected the driver.

The Mercury driver, identified as 49-year-old Los Banos resident Traci Marie Torres, passed away at the scene.

The driver of the Honda, 51-year-old Clovis resident Cynthia Gallow, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Memorial North Hospital in Modesto by air ambulance. The truck driver, 35-year-old Fresno resident Manoji K. Sharma, was unharmed.

The cause of the crash, including whether or not substances were a factor, is under investigation.
