Los Gatos, CA- DUI Crash Kills 16-year-old Male On CA-17 Near Redwood Estates

Los Gatos, CA (May 13, 2019)- The California Highway Patrol’s Office Ross Lee reported that a DUI-related accident close to Redwood Estates left a 16-year-old Fremont resident dead at approximately 2 am on Saturday.

The crash took place on CA-17 when 28-year-old San Jose resident Ashley Marie Oliver collided head-on in her minivan with a Toyota Corolla being driven by a car full of teenagers.

The CHP noted that Oliver was heading northbound in the southbound lanes when the crash occurred.

Three people ranging in age from 16 to 17 years old in the Toyota received major injuries. Armando Canales, a passenger in the rear seat of the car, was killed. According to the CHP, his seatbelt was not in use at the time of the crash.

Oliver, who sustained minor injuries, was booked for felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter charges at the Santa Clara County Jail.

A GoFundMe page has been established for Canales’s funeral costs.

The crash is under investigation.
