McKinleyville, CA- Deadly Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Crash on Central Ave & Bella Vista Rd

McKinleyville, CA (May 21, 2019)- A suspected DUI driver was involved in a crash that killed a pedestrian on Saturday at around 7:28 am.

The crash took place on Central Avenue at Bella Vista Road in McKinleyville. 47-year- old McKinleyville resident Clinton Eugene Deckert II was hit as he walked northward on Central Avenue. A 1997 Toyota Rav4 driven by 25-year-old McKinley resident Shala Marie Bianco struck Deckert as she turned in the northward direction and veered toward the side of the street.

Deckert passed away at the site of the crash. Bianco fled the crash site, but later reported to officials and was arrested for suspected DUI.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
