Mendocino County, CA – Fatal DUI Crash on Highway 101 and Highway 1
Mendocino County, CA – (November 26, 2018) – One person was killed and three other people were injured after an alleged DUI crash near the intersection of Highway 101 and Highway 1 last Wednesday. The deceased woman has been identified as 67-year-old Leida Padway, of Alameda.
Per the initial report, David Gosselin was driving in a Toyota Tacoma southbound on Highway 101 when he suddenly lost control of his truck. The pickup spun into northbound lanes where he struck a 2001 Ford Escape driven by Padway. The Tacoma struck the Toyota Camry, prompting both vehicles to continue off the highway and into an embankment. Emergency crews arrived at the scene of the accident and attempted to stabilize Padway but sadly she died of her injuries at the crash site. Her passenger, Barry Greenburg, was rushed to Howard Memorial Hospital in Willits with major injuries. The driver of the second vehicle hit by the Toyota Camry was treated for minor wounds at the site. Meanwhile, Gosselin was also seriously hurt and hospitalized. The cab of his pickup was detached from its chassis and his vehicle toppled sideways onto the roadway. Investigators confirmed Gosselin was under the influence of alcohol or drugs when the wreck occurred. The Leggett man was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of Leida Padway as they try to process this avoidable tragedy. We offer them strength and courage as they begin the long process of grieving the loss of their loved one.
