Mendocino County, CA – Joel Harrison Killed in Fatal Motorcycle Accident

Mendocino County, CA (February 2, 2019) – Police have now identified the rider of a motorcycle involved in a fatal motorcycle accident as 62-year-old Joel Harrison. The accident took place on Thursday evening, according to police.

The accident took place around 5:00 p.m. in the area of Highway 20 and Marina Drive. Police say that a westbound Harley Davidson had been driven by Harrison and was traveling in the eastbound lanes of SR-20 when he suddenly collided head-on with a silver Toyota Camry. The Camry was being driven by 37-year-old Kathryn Lanier-Smith.

A white Chevy had been traveling behind the Camry and attempted to swerve out of the way but was unable to do so. This caused the Chevy to strike the front of the Toyota.

When emergency responders arrived, they pronounced Harrison dead at the scene of the accident. Lanier-Smith suffered injuries and was taken to the hospital.

At this time, the California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident.

We understand that the aftermath of these accidents can be distressing, which is why our accident attorneys would like to extend their condolences at this time.
