Merced, CA – CA-140 Motorcycle Crash Kills 37-Year-Old Man, Injures Passenger
Merced, CA (March 30, 2019) – A single-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle occurred on March 29th, just after 1:30 p.m., that took the life of one person and seriously injured another.
The 37-year-old Atwater man was driving eastbound on Highway 140, near Howard Road, on his Harley-Davidson motorcycle at 65 mph. For unknown reasons, he drifted onto the shoulder and hit a power pole, causing his passenger, 38-year-old Bessie Mitchell, to be ejected.
Emergency responders were called to the scene to render aid. Mitchell was transported to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for treatment and further evaluation. Sadly, the driver did not survive his injuries from this accident and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The roadway was shut down for around two hours following the incident.
