Modesto, CA – Fatal Bicycle Accident on 7th Street in Modesto
Modesto, CA (July 20, 2018) – A local and trustworthy news source reported a fatal accident between a bicyclist and a motor vehicle on 7th Street near Pecos Avenue Thursday night. The accident that involved a Toyota Sienna and was reported by the California Highway Patrol apparently occurred at approximately 10:10 p.m.
Officials from the California Highway Patrol responded to the scene of the accident where a 57-year-old man had been fatally struck by the Toyota minivan which caused the bicyclist to be thrown off his bike. Emergency responders arrived on the scene to assist the injured man. An air ambulance had to be called in order to rush the severely wounded victim to the hospital. The man was immediately flown to Memorial Medical Center, where he was unfortunately pronounced dead.
49-year-old Esther Orozco Toledo of Modesto was the uninjured driver of the minivan that struck the cyclist. She reportedly stayed at the scene and fully cooperated with authorities. No further information has been provided in regards to this crash. The name of the victim has not been released, most likely in order to give authorities time to notify loved ones. An investigation is presently ongoing.
