Modesto, CA – Police Officer Injured after Suspected Hit-and-Run at Intersection of Carver Road and Standiford Avenue
Modesto, CA (August 9, 2018) – A local news source reported that a police officer sustained injuries as the result of a suspected hit-and-run collision that took place at the intersection of Carver Road and Standiford Avenue. The accident transpired at approximately 12:50 AM in the early morning hours on Monday, August 6, 2018. No detailed information concerning the identities of the police officer or the suspect driver involved in the crash has been revealed at this time.
According to initial reports, the officer had been driving his police car east down Standiford. At some point, he attempted to cross the junction at Carver during a green light at the same time a white Hyundai approached from Carver. For reasons still undetermined, the unidentified driver of the Hyundai tried to turn left on Standiford when the Carver light was still red. As a result, the police car plowed into the side of the Hyundai.
As a result of the collision, the police car swerved out of control and slammed into a sign and bus bench at the side of the road. Officials confirmed the vehicle was severely damaged during the impact.
Medical personnel revealed the police officer sustained non-life threatening injuries.
Meanwhile, the Hyundai driver escaped on foot and abandoned a passenger. Officials later brought the unidentified woman to a nearby hospital, where she was cleared of any potential charges. However, as further reports indicate, the woman refused to cooperate with investigators and did not provide any information about the identity of the suspect driver.
Presently, the investigation is ongoing.
We extend our most heartfelt prayers and most loving thoughts to the injured officer and wish him a swift and efficient recovery from his injuries during this difficult time.

By law, drivers involved in a crash are required to remain at the scene of an accident and cooperate with authorities. Failure to do so can result in severe punishment including charges of felony-hit-and-run. Based on the information in the report, the Hyundai driver failed to render aid to the victim and abandoned a passenger before fleeing the crash site. In light of these details, the suspect could be held fully accountable for causing the crash and inflicting injuries on a police officer.
The injured officer may wish to file a personal injury lawsuit against the culprit, pending the results of the investigation. Through legal intervention, the non-guilty injured victim can receive compensation for multiple inconveniences including medical bills, painful injuries, and vehicle damage.
