Monterey, CA – Three Vehicles Involved in Traffic Accident along Highway 68 near Pasadena Drive

Monterey, CA (July 25, 2018) – The California Highway Patrol reported that an accident involving multiple vehicles took place on Highway 68 (Monterey Salinas Highway) in the vicinity of Pasadena Drive. The incident occurred at approximately 2:00 PM in the afternoon on Tuesday, July 24, 2018. At this time, no detailed information concerning the identities of the people involved in the crash has been revealed.

As the CHP reports indicate, a tan Toyota minivan, a white Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD pickup truck, and a third unidentified vehicle were traveling eastbound on Highway 68 and, for indeterminate reasons, collided. As a result of the impact, the Chevrolet slid onto the right shoulder of the road and the two other vehicles slid to a halt near the left turn lane.

Afterward, rescue teams were dispatched to the crash site and rendered medical aid to an adult and two young girls who sustained non-life threatening injuries during the accident. The current conditions of these victims have not been revealed.

CHP also confirmed the truck sustained severe damage to its front-end, while the minivan received similar damage to its rear.

Presently, investigators are looking into probable causes for the accident. As more information continues to surface, more details will be released to public sources.

At this time, the circumstances surrounding this accident are unknown. As part of the ongoing investigation, forensic teams will inspect the Toyota, the Chevrolet, and the third vehicle for mechanical issues or system failure and examine photos of the crash site. Likewise, officials will consider if one or more drivers had consumed drugs or alcohol prior to operating their vehicles or had simply failed to comply with basic traffic laws.  By taking these factors into consideration, authorities can determine liability.

In the event of an accident caused by negligence or recklessness, the non-guilty injured victims have the legal right to file a personal injury lawsuit and, ultimately, receive compensation for unfortunate, inconvenient issues including medical bills and vehicle insurance.
