Monterey County, CA – Fatal DUI Accident Injures Passenger On San Juan Rd
Monterey County, CA (April 20, 2019) – An alleged DUI crash resulted in the death of the driver. The passenger inside the vehicle, identified as 23-year-old Anthon Macias, sustained injuries in the crash also. The accident only involved a single vehicle, a 2004 Toyota Tundra. The accident happened on Friday night, April 12. The crash was reported at 11:30 p.m. that evening.
The crash happened on San Juan Rd just west of Murphy Rd.
Sources say that the vehicle for some reason left the roadway, with it then crashing into a power pole on the south shoulder. The truck eventually continued into a rollover.
Passenger Macias was transported to a hospital facility for medical treatment of minor injuries. The 21-year-old driver was ejected from the vehicle due to lack of wearing a seatbelt. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
The identity of the driver has not been released by officials. It was believed that he was impaired by alcohol at the time of the crash.
The case is still ongoing and more information is likely to be released in the future.
