Moreno Valley, CA – 14-Year-Old Killed in Hit-and-Run on Cottonwood Avenue

Moreno Valley, CA (February 21, 2019) – Police say that, on Saturday, around 6:33 p.m., in the 22600 Block of Cottonwood Avenue, a 14-year-old boy lost his life in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident.

14-year-old Darion Coleman was walking in the area when he was suddenly struck by a Cadillac Escalade being operated by 33-year-old Arevalo Garcia Eleazar.

Police arrived at the scene to find that Coleman had been left in the roadway with major injuries following the accident. The driver had fled the scene after he was struck. Coleman was transported to the hospital for treatment but, while there, he, unfortunately, passed away.

Authorities found Eleazar at his residence after they pieced together information that was given by witnesses. He has since been arrested on charges of felony hit-and-run.
