Newman, CA – Officials Identify Man Killed after Violent Crash on Northbound Highway 33 near Sanches Road

Newman, CA (August 16, 2018) – Recently, a local news source provided updated information about the elderly male victim who died as the result of a violent crash that took place on the northbound lanes of Highway 33, in the vicinity of Sanches Road. The incident occurred at some time in the afternoon on Tuesday, August 14, 2018. As of today, officials identified the deceased victim as 71-year old Newman resident Richard Jimenez and his female passenger as 69-year old Victoria Jimenez.

Based on the original report, Jimenez had been driving a 2008 Ford Expedition north along Highway 33 when, for indeterminate reasons, he veered into the path of opposing traffic and crashed into the front end of an oncoming Peterbilt semi-truck.

Sometime later, medical personnel confirmed Richard Jimenez suffered fatal trauma and died during the impact.

Meanwhile, Victoria Jimenez was brought to Doctors Medical Center, where she received treatment for severe injuries.

Authorities affirmed the truck driver, Christopher Voelker, was uninjured and have speculated drugs and alcohol did not contribute to the crash.
