Nipomo, CA – Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Thompson Avenue near Wineman Road
Nipomo, CA – (November 11, 2018) – The California Highway Patrol is investigating a motorcycle accident that killed one person and seriously injured another. The deadly accident transpired at approximately 7:30 pm on Saturday, November 10th on Thompson Avenue, just south of Wineman Road.
Reportedly, a 42-year-old Santa Maria man was driving a 2018 Harley Davidson motorcycle heading northbound on Wineman Road. Meanwhile, 62-year-old John Ricker, of Arroyo Grande, was in his vehicle on Wineman Road at a complete stop. Ricker was getting ready to make a left turn onto Thompson Avenue when he unknowingly pulled directly into the path of the bike. The rider attempted to avoid the vehicle but was not able to react in time and slammed into the left side of the truck. Both the motorcyclist and his passenger were ejected. Emergency crews rushed to the scene of the accident and performed CPR on one of the riders, sadly despite rescue attempts the man died of his injuries at the scene of the accident. His name has not been released pending identification and notification of family. The woman was transported to Marian Regional Medical Center with major injuries. The current physical condition of the injured victim was not established at the time of the initial log.
This deadly accident is currently being investigated by the California Highway Patrol.
