Norwalk, CA – DUI Crash Results in Two Fatalities on 605 Freeway
Norwalk, CA (July 16, 2018) – A report made by the California Highway Patrol stated that a man and a woman both died in a suspected DUI collision early Monday morning. The crash that took place between a car and a minivan reportedly occurred in the northbound lanes of the freeway by Rosecrans Boulevard at approximately 1:06 a.m.
According to reports, authorities believe the crash happened when the car that was involved rear-ended the minivan. The man driving the car was apparently arrested on suspicion of DUI while a female passenger in that vehicle sustained relatively minor injuries. Police said that a man and a woman who were in the minivan were both pronounced dead at the scene.
Reports state that bystanders tried to save the man by pulling him from the wreck before the van burst into flames, but he sadly died from his injuries moments later. The woman in the van was unable to be freed and died inside the burning wreckage. Three other occupants, which includes one child, were all able to get out of the van and survived the accident with moderate to serious injuries.
The police had to issue a SigAlert after closing down all northbound lanes of the freeway at 1:19 a.m. There is an investigation into all aspects of this accident currently being conducted by authorities.
We offer our sincerest sympathies and deepest condolences to the family members of both victims who tragically died in this devastating crash as we also wish for all other victims to have a quick and healthy recovery.
