Oakland, CA. Detron Nelson Identified as Victim of Fatal Train Accident Near East 10th Street
Oakland, CA. (June 26, 2018) – A man who was sadly struck and killed by a BART train on June 18 has been identified today as 22-year-old Detron Nelson. The accident occurred at approximately 11:35 a.m. when Nelson was hit by a six-car train that was heading northbound on the Fremont-Warm Springs line. The unfortunate accident happened near East 8th and East 10th Streets.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene almost immediately, and they had to work to remove Nelsons’ body from underneath the train. Nelson was pronounced dead shortly after the removal of his body. AC Transit provided buses for travelers who were trying to use the train, to get to their different destinations in a timely manner.
