Oceanside, CA – Teenage Girl Killed after Violent Collision along Interstate 5 Freeway

Oceanside, CA (August 9, 2018) – A San Diego local news source reported that a teenage girl was killed during a violent collision that happened along the Interstate 5 Freeway. Witnesses first found the victim at 9:45 AM in the morning on Thursday, August 9, 2018. At this time, no detailed information concerning the identity of the deceased teenager or the 21-year old male motorist involved in the crash has been revealed.

According to the initial news source, people had seen the teenager standing along Interstate 5’s right shoulder when, according to authorities, she raised her hand to signal drivers. After walking west along several lanes of Interstate 5, the pedestrian was clipped by an oncoming 2008 Chevrolet as she approached one lane away from the left side of the freeway.

Sometime later, paramedics were dispatched to the crash site and airlifted the teenager to Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla. After being brought to the hospital, the girl succumbed to her injuries and died.

Afterward, investigators explained the 21-year old San Diego man who was driving the Chevrolet had attempted to swerve out of the way of the pedestrian but ultimately failed, due to the fact that he was traveling at approximately 30 mph.

As of now, the investigation is ongoing.
