Ojai Car Accident on Highway 150

Motorcyclist John Martins Killed in Vehicle Crash

Ojai, CA (June 15, 2018) – One driver was injured and one motorcyclist killed as the result of a deadly traffic accident on Highway 150, near Dennison Park, at approximately 8:20 AM. Sources have identified the deceased motorcyclist as 54-year old Orange County resident John Martins. The identity of the wounded driver has not yet been released to the public, and the extent of their injuries is still under review. 

Reports from the California Highway Patrol indicate that Martins and a group of fellow motorcyclists were driving westbound on Highway 150. Martins failed to make a correct turn and veered into the eastbound lanes. Martins proceeded to collide with an oncoming vehicle. As a result, Martins was flung from his bike and across the highway. This crash caused severe, life-threatening injuries.

Paramedics and first responders arrived on the scene and provided care to the best of their abilities. However, the extent of the injuries was substantial enough to necessitate more substantial care, and medical officials sent Martin to Venture County Medical Center. Upon arrival, despite immediate treatment, Martin died from traumatic injuries sustained from the crash.

Forensic teams will conduct further examinations on Martins’ motorcycle and the scene of the crash to determine the ultimate cause. Experts will consider factors like chemical influence such as drugs or alcohol and distracted or negligent driving on part of the motorcyclist and motorist involved. Two more factors to consider are the speed of the vehicles and any potential mechanical failure.

Furthermore, teams will investigate the impact of the motorcycle, including skid marks, gouges, drag, and the final resting point of the bike.
