Palm Desert Head-On Collision and DUI Leaves Two Passengers Injured
2 Injured in DUI Crash in Palm Desert
Palm Desert, California (June 19, 2018) – Three individuals were involved in a head-on collision on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at approximately 6:30 am. The crash occurred in Palm Desert, and initial reports indicate the collision was the result of a driver operating a vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicating substance.
Sources indicate the accident took place on the 75000 block of Hovley Lane, off of Indian Ridge Drive. Police have identified the driver as 22-year old Christian Cooper. However, the identities of the two passengers that accompanied Cooper have not yet been disclosed to the public.
Police have stated that the accident occurred when Cooper veered away from the center lane while driving an unidentified vehicle. As a result, he crashed his vehicle directly into a nearby tree in the median. Paramedics were dispatched to the scene to administer care. While the crash did not harm Cooper, his passengers were taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Their condition was reported as stable and non-life threatening. Following the accident, police spoke with those involved in the collision and determined that Cooper’s intoxication was at fault. Cooper was arrested on charges of drunk driving, and he was interred at Riverside County Jail.
Officials are still investigating the crash and looking into the plausible causes of the collision.
