Paso Robles, CA – Crews Investigating Fatal Car Crash on Hwy 46
Paso Robles, CA (March 24, 2019) – A head-on collision involving a car and an SUV occurred on March 23rd, just after 6:30 a.m., that took the life of one passenger.
The head-on collision took place just west of the deadly Cholame “Y” intersection, most famously known as the place where James Dean died in a head-on crash in 1955.
Around 6:30 a.m., the driver of a Mitsubishi Lancer sedan was attempting to turn left out of the parking lot at the Jack Ranch Cafe to go eastbound on Highway 46.
However, the driver failed to yield to oncoming traffic and pulled out in front of a Toyota Sienna SUV which was filled with seven passengers.
As a consequence, the SUV broadsided the sedan, which was transporting four people. The female left-rear passenger was ejected from the sedan and onto the road. She suffered fatal injuries.
California Highway Patrol responded to the scene of this fatal accident. The three other passengers of the sedan were injured in addition to the fatality. Emergency responders were called to the scene to render aid and the injured parties were transported to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo for treatment and further evaluation. None of the seven passengers of the SUV were hurt in the crash.
The identification of the female passenger who was ejected and killed has not been released and alcohol or drugs are not suspected in the accident, which is still under investigation.
We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the victim who passed away as a result of this fatal accident. Our thoughts are with them at this time. As well we wish for a speedy recovery for the injured parties in the accident.
“Blood Alley” Accidents
The area of the Cholame “Y” intersection just outside of Paso Robles has been nicknamed “Blood Alley,” as it has had three times the number of motorist fatalities than the state average occur in just that small stretch of road. The stretch of the highway has long been a danger zone for motorists, who drive in opposite directions.
If you are a passenger and have been hurt in a car accident, there are a few avenues you can take to receive compensation for any medical expenses and other related losses. Depending on who was at fault for the accident, you can usually make a claim against the policy of the driver of the car you were riding in or the policy of the driver of the other vehicle involved. This is considered a “third party” claim.
If you are a passenger who was hurt in a car accident and have questions about your rights, you may want to talk about your options with a car accident lawyer.
