Pittsburg, CA. Victim of Fatal Rollover Crash on Highway 4 Identified as Maurelle Carter
Pittsburg, CA. (June 26, 2018) – The California Highway Patrol reported on a collision that killed a man on June 17. Today, the victim has been identified as 25-year-old Maurelle Carter from Antioch. The accident occurred at approximately 9:35 a.m. on Highway 4 in the vicinity of the Loveridge Road off-ramp. Reportedly, the accident took place in the eastbound lanes of the highway. According to reports, Carter had been ejected from his Jeep Grand Cherokee, and he was found dead at the scene when responders arrived.
Carter had one female passenger with him who was also ejected from the Jeep and suffered serious injuries. She was transported to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek to undergo treatment. The initial investigation determined that Carter was driving at a very high rate of speed, traveling at approximately 80 or 90 mph before the crash. Carter apparently crossed all lanes of traffic and proceeded to slam into a concrete curb before the Jeep overturned.
The investigation is still ongoing and attempting to discover if drugs or alcohol played a part in the accident. Anyone with any information is urged to contact the California Highway Patrol. We are sending our deepest condolences to Maurelle Carter’s family members and loved ones.
Car Accident Injury and Wrongful Death Attorney
Depending on the results of the investigation, and whether or not drugs or alcohol were a factor, there may be grounds for a personal injury or wrongful death lawsuit to follow. Many victims choose to file a claim for compensation after an injury or death because of the tremendously high bills that arise after an accident. Funeral costs, hospital bills, future medical expenses, lost current or future wages, and property damage are all things that generally convince victims to pursue legal action. Nevertheless, it is always the victims’ choice to seek compensation.
