Placerville, CA – Michael Tinonga Identified in Fatal Pedestrian Crash on Highway 50

Placerville, CA (March 1, 2019) – 33-year-old Michael Tinonga was identified as the man killed in a fatal pedestrian crash that took place last night on Highway 50. The accident happened around 9:30 p.m. around the area of Ponderosa Road.

Police reported that two different vehicles struck Tinonga when he was walking in the middle of the offramp on the highway. Both drivers stayed at the scene and spoke with authorities, telling them that they were unable to avoid the collision.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Tinonga was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.

The two drivers who struck Tinonga were identified as 61-year-old William Creamer and 63-year-old Richard Lopes. At the time, the road was completely dark, according to both drivers and police.

The accident remains under investigation at this time.
