What if the Motorcyclist is At-Fault in California?
The majority of motorcycle accidents with other vehicles are the result of carelessness by the driver of these vehicles. However, motorcycles are often involved in single-vehicle crashes.
Whether the accident is a single-vehicle crash or a multi-vehicle accident, the question of fault is vital.
Some examples where motorcyclists would be found at fault are when the driver:
- Collides with a lawfully parked vehicle.
- Rear-ends a vehicle.
- An out-of-lane crash.
- Doesn’t signal.
- Doesn’t move with caution from a stop sign or traffic light.
- Back into another vehicle.
- Fail to obey driving laws.
- Hit another automobile while making a left turn or U-turn across the path of a vehicle that is going in the opposite direction.
- Hit another vehicle while leaving a parking spot.
- Have an accident on the wrong side of the road.
- Collide with another car while merging onto a highway.
- Collide while failing to yield the right-of-way to emergency vehicles.
- Collide at a “T” intersection when coming through a side road.
