Redwood City, California – Pedestrian Dies after Train Accident at Brewster Avenue Grade Crossing
Redwood City, California (July 6, 2018) – Local news sources reported that a fatal accident took place at the Brewster Avenue Grade crossing in Redwood City. The incident happened at approximately 5:09 PM in the late afternoon on Thursday, July 5, 2018. Authorities have not revealed any details concerning the people involved in the accident at this time.
Based on initial reports, a pedestrian man was standing near the crossing at Brewster Avenue Grade as a southbound train approached. Without warning, the train slammed into the pedestrian. Officials declared the male victim sustained severe trauma as a result of the impact and succumbed to his major injuries.
A total of 454 passengers had been riding on the train and none of these individuals were injured.
Afterward, trains were forced to travel across a single track for over an hour due to delays in the entire railroad system. Reports indicate this accident marks the fifth death for the system overall for 2018.
As of now, the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Transit Police Bureau, patrol officers of Caltrain, has assumed control over the ongoing investigation.
