Richmond, CA – One Dead, One Seriously Injured In Rollover I-80 Crash Just West Of The Central Ave. Interchange
Richmond, CA (June 9, 2019) – A multi-vehicle accident occurred on June 8th at about 5:12 p.m., that took the life of one person and seriously injured another.
California Highway Patrol responded to the scene of this fatal accident. According to CHP officers, the crash occurred on Interstate 80 just west of the Central Avenue interchange.
A gray Nissan Sentra was moving east on I-80, speeding in and out of traffic at high speeds. Near the Central Avenue exit, the Nissan sideswiped a white Mercedes-Benz SUV going about 50 mph. The collision made the Nissan lose control and roll over, ejecting the two passengers in the car.
The driver of the Nissan was then arrested on suspicion of felony driving under the influence.
Emergency responders were called to the scene to render aid to the injured. The injured parties were transported to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek for treatment and further evaluation. Sadly, the passenger in the Nissan died at the scene.
We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of the victim who passed away as a result of this fatal accident. Our thoughts are with them at this time.
