Riverside, CA – Authorities Identify Driver Responsible for Fatal Traffic Accident on Westbound 91 Freeway

Riverside, CA (August 16, 2018) – A local news source recently provided updated information concerning the driver responsible for causing a fatal traffic accident that resulted in the deaths of two victims on the westbound 91 Freeway. The tragic incident happened at 1:45 AM in the early morning hours on Friday, August 10, 2018. As of today, authorities have identified the driver as 29-year old Elias Ceja Lemus Jr. The deceased victims have been identified as 74-year old Ethel Granados and 52-year old Fatima Granados.

According to the original report, Ethel and Fatima Granados were heading west on 91 when, without warning, Lemus Jr., who had been driving east on the freeway, plowed his vehicle into the front end of theirs.

Sometime later, officials sadly confirmed that Ethel and Fatima Granados died at the scene of the accident.

Authorities have also affirmed a third passenger suffered major injuries during the impact. Officials transported this victim to a nearby hospital for more in-depth treatment.

Meanwhile, police arrested Lemus Jr., who was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. Later, he was transported to Roberts Presley Detention Center and detained on two separate charges of second-degree murder, two separate charges for inflicting injuries, and a single charge of DUI.

Presently, the investigation is ongoing.

We extend our most heartfelt prayers and our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Ethel and Fatima Granados and wish them strength and peace of mind during this difficult, tragic time.
