Sacramento, CA – One Man Hospitalized Following Crash with Box Truck After Being Pulled Over by CHP
Sacramento, CA. (July 11, 2018) – A 24-year-old man from Sacramento was apparently pulled over by a California Highway Patrol officer moments before a box truck crashed into his SUV and reportedly caused the vehicle to overturn. The man was pulled over at approximately 10:22 a.m. Tuesday morning for a cell phone violation on Highway 99.
The unidentified officer was reportedly ticketing the driver of a Toyota 4Runner when a box truck lost control for unknown reasons and slammed into the SUV. The truck apparently missed the officer’s motorcycle and the officer was able to quickly step out of the way of the crash. However, the man in the SUV who had his seatbelt on, suffered relatively minor injuries after the impact of the collision forced the SUV to roll over.
The victim was reportedly transported to UC Davis Medical Center to be treated for his injuries. Lanes number 3 and 4 had to be closed down for almost a mile while crews worked to clear the wreck. The driver of the box truck was reportedly not injured in the accident, and investigators have confirmed that neither drugs nor alcohol played a role in the crash.
