Sacramento, CA – Authorities Identify Female Pedestrian Killed after Collision with Two Vehicles along Highway 99

Sacramento, CA (August 28, 2018) – Recently, local authorities provided updated information about the woman who died as the result of a violent collision with two vehicles along Highway 99, in the vicinity of 47th Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard. The fatal crash occurred at approximately 3:30 PM last Tuesday, August 21, 2018. As of today, the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 52-year old Gianna Carter. No detailed information concerning the identities of the two motorists involved in the crash has been revealed at this time.

According to the report from the California Highway Patrol, Carter had been running along Highway 99 when, without warning, the first car plowed into her. The force of the impact sent her reeling across the opposing traffic lane, where a second vehicle ran into her.

After the accident, both motorists remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

As part of the initial cleanup, authorities shut down the three left lanes on 99 for several hours.
